Great Britain amateur Sam Maxwell got back to winning ways by striking gold in Lithuania.

The Salisbury ABC man reigned supreme at the Sockias Tournament over the weekend after three wins in as many days.

Maxwell travelled to Eastern Europe on the back of a frustrating first season in World Series of Boxing.

The 24-year-old admits the experience had knocked his confidence but he was determined to get back on track in time for the European Amateur Championships later this month.

And true to his word, Maxwell delivered. The GB light-welterweight saw off Deividas Kliuciakas of Lithuania 13-5 then Zdenek Chladek (Czech Republic) on countback before claiming gold with a 16-6 win over Vadzim Trushneninkau (Belarus).
