After the police had forced the cancellation of various stages of the England Boxing Junior championships, based on a serious threat, including “a threat to life”. Even if England Boxing had gone ahead with certain events in the tournament it was made clear that the police would go to court to stop them. However the Northern Area semi-finals were held at Birtley ABC on April 3
Salisbury ABC had two boxers competing in the National Junior Northern Semi Finals of the Junior championships and we came away with one win, one lose and one walkover.
Tom McEvoy beat Kallum Wood of Aston ABC in the 36kg junior cadet semi final by unanimous decision, both boxers met in the competition last year when Kallum won a controversial split decision in quarter finals in Birmingham. Tom will now go on to box George Ellis of Repton ABC in the next round who is the current Schoolboy champion after winning the competition the last two years.
Jack Shea lost to the 2014 champion Billy Revell of Burton Park ABC in the 63kg junior cadet semi final by a points decision.
Reece Sloan got a bye to the next round of the competition where he will be facing London’s J Ward of Gym south in the 75kg semi finals.
