Two Merseyside boxers claimed gold at last weekend’s National Junior Development Championship finals in Rotherham.
Salisbury ABC’s Declan Jones and Knowlsey Vale’s Liam Scott were both victorious in their finals while there was disappointment for seven other finalists from across the region.
Scott defeated Hornchurch’s Martin Joyce in the 42-44kg decider while Jones came out on top against White Hart Lane’s Stanislav Brzeninski.
Meanwhile, five boxers from Merseyside and Cheshire will compete in the England Boxing Senior Development Championship Quarter Finals this weekend.
In the Class A section: Kirkby’s Luke Wilkinson and Salisbury ABC’s Al Mohammed Hussein will box against Anthony Woolery (Carters) and Solomon Dacres (Warley) respectively, while Wirral CP’s Dean Smith receives a walkover into the semi-finals.
In the Class B section: Jack McKinley of Everton Red Triangle fights Romain Ncube (2nd City), Aaron Small from Rotunda fights Kaisee Benjamin (Eastside) and Dexter Magaza of Salisbury fights Shakan Pitters (Eastside).
